Composite materials like Kevlar (the same material used for bulletproof vests) and carbon fiber are the hottest composites used to make trail bicycle frames. These materials are also made use of for other parts of the bike, as they are intensely light-weight and very robust. However bike frames made with Kevlar and carbon fiber are exceedingly difficult to fix when damaged.
Mountain biking is a popular sport as well as a great method of exercise, but, most of all, mountain biking is a lifestyle. The bikes have very specific design characteristics for off road and rough terrain. Mountain biking requires strength, endurance and biking skills. While much of this sport involves bicycling over trails and over hills and mountains, it can also mean cross country biking.
This type of biking involves hopping and jumping bikes over various obstacles. It has the versatility to be done either off road or in urban areas. The rider must have a very good sense of balance and skill. This is very similar to skateboarding where style, originality and techniques count.
When you ride your bike on flat ground at a slower speed you are still burning a great amount of calories due to the fact that you will be able to continue that pedaling motion for a longer period of time. This is also perfect for people who don‘t have the stamina for a highly intensive ride at different speeds and climbs etc. Low intensity work outs also don’t give you all the extra muscle either so the weight will stay off.
This is much like downhill. It involves similar techniques and circumstances. The bikes usually have front and rear suspension with large brakes and a heavier frame.
