The 1st mountain bikes were made of steel alloys. Carbon steel metal compounds are still utilized in making beginner-level mountain bikes, and some fans still prefer these kinds. The heaviness of these steel alloys is not always a drawback to the rider, as they provide natural shock assimilation ( thanks to the material itself ), and a superb proportion of strength vs weight, only overreached by expensive titanium metal. Also, bike frames made of steel alloy can be simply repaired, even by the rider himself.
Dirt jump is just what the name implies. It involves riding on a dirt track, jumping over hills and dirt obstacles. This is also a competition category for mountain biking that is very popular.
Getting such a perfect beauty out in the market involves intensive care and construction and a lot of research and development coupled with thorough testing in the lab and real terrain to ensure that the bike will see through the worst of times. An important component of the bike is the biker itself. The person at the handlebars and the track through which the bike is subjected determine the design and sensitivity of a particular model. The empirical data is modeled in a computer with real bikers providing the feel for the right design that ensures a satisfying ride.
