Parts of your body that will benefit from training are your legs. Your legs will be the first part of your body in particular that will get tired very quickly. Building up your leg muscles either at the gym or one the bike will help improve your personal and bike fitness quickly.
There are five very general categories in mountain biking, downhill, dirt jump, cross country, trials/street riding and free ride. While each type has its own certain characteristics, the equipment is basically the same. The bikes are sturdy with large round tubing to make up the frame, knobby tires and shock absorbers or suspension.
A good pair of sunglasses is also essential. Your glasses should protect your eyes from rocks, dirt, mud or other debris and also make it easier to see in different types of weather and at different times of day. Consider a set of sunglasses with interchangeable lenses so that you can change the lenses depending upon the weather or time of day for maximum contrast and protection from eye fatigue and strain.
